August 25, 2014

Well hey everyone!

This week was great! Our big miracle is that a member went out with us to a return appointment way out in Dorr, Michigan (in our area but 30 minutes away). Last week we stopped by an inactive member's house and we talked to him. Weird thing is, he has never heard of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, knows no Mormon people, has never been to our church, but was totally down to learn more. We taught him an awesome lesson outside his house on Thursday, Spirit was strong. We don't know how to proceed in the next lesson though - we can't really invite him to baptism because he's been baptized into the church before...No matter what the outcome is, we made friends with a new member, Bro. Jarvis. He's going to start going out with us frequently. He's a way solid fellowshipper too.

On Tuesday I went to Grand Valley on trade-offs. After we had biked a considerable way from our apartment, it started to rain. Like, hard rain. We got soaked. A part-member family who loves the missionaries helped us out by letting us borrow some of their clothes as ours tumbled in their dryer. It saved the rest of our day- it stopped raining and we managed to stay dry for the remainder of our trade off.

Lots of you have asked about the weather. It has been a super mild summer, very cool. This last week has been hot and humid though, and I have been sweating like crazy. Apparently this next winter is predicted to be just as bad as the last.

Well, that's about it. I'm happy and well. The work is good because it is the Lord's work! Love you all,

If there aren't Dutch people in Heaven, I'm not going.

Today has been great so far! We went and visited the Nelis' Dutch Village. We sampled Dutch fudge, got weighed (to see if we were witches) and pet a goat. We're going back to try on wooden shoes, watch the dancers, and probably hold a bunny. Too excited. I'll attach a few pictures and send some others next week.

This week was awesome as well! Our area is starting to show signs of opening up which is exciting. We found new investigators, set progressing ones on date, and had a great time going out finding. We also contacted a bunch of members that haven't been contacted in years and they're willing to meet. They're part-member families, too. :)

The highlight of the week was going back to Spring Lake though. Once we got there we had lunch with the Ongert's. I love them too much! Both of them fulfill their callings and help out the missionaries a ton! I got to see Sister Bignall and Kilian as well, but Hamish and Madison were out of town! It was a crazy experience going out to my first area on my 1-year mark day. Lots of reflecting and goal-setting. Elder Kinikini (the zone leader I did tradeoffs with) is the most loving, fun person ever.

That's about it. Not much time this week either. We also have trade-offs later this evening with the Grand Valley Elders, gotta go pack.

Love you all!

The Stork.

I'm too heavy to be a witch, we found out. They hand out certificates to prove it, too.
